Psalms 31 & 34

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

As for me, I trust in You, O LORD,
I say, "You are my God. My times are in Your hand",

Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the LORD.

Stranded in Destruction Bay

Now our trip gets a bit exciting...

About 15 minutes past Destruction Bay, Yukon, Canada, we are passing the end of the beautiful Kluane Lake. And we hear a funny noise emitting from the truck. After a little investigation, Chris discovers our transmission is going bye-bye. That was the last big item left to replace. We practically have a new truck under the hood! ...except for the transmission.

We pray. The children pray. We wait. A few minutes later a Canadian version of a DOT truck stops to check on us. We are watching the sun set over the water and wondering what in the world will happen. The guy is a foreman and has a brother-in-law in Destruction Bay who is a mechanic.

This brother, Charles, ended up towing us to the motel in town using the tow rope Chris had bought for just such an event. Charles had supper at the restaurant (the only restaurant) to give us time to get the family settled.  Then he and Chris went back for the trailer.

So we are parked here for about a week. Charles put together some quotes for us for the truck repair. He didn't have the equipment needed so his partner and Chris are towing the truck ($1000) to the nearest town, Whitehorse, 3 hours away. In Whitehorse the repair will be about $5000-$7000. We should get the truck back within a week. Chris will ride with Charles back into Whitehorse and drive the truck home. The next day we should be back on the road.

It is very beautiful here. The snow-capped mountains rise out of Kluane Lake. Our room is huge so we have plenty of space. The children are stocked with activities and goodies. I bought some things and our adopted church family at First Assembly provided a stash, too!
