Psalms 31 & 34

The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.

As for me, I trust in You, O LORD,
I say, "You are my God. My times are in Your hand",

Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the LORD.

Eternity in Her Heart

Elysiana has been peppering me with questions about death and eternity. I explained that we all have a purpose and when we are finished with God's work here, God will take us to heaven... and how glorious that will be, etc. She was unimpressed.

So for several weeks she has been very concerned about death.  Finally... I really listened to what she was saying. She was expressing something that was stirring deep within her.  The Holy Spirit opened my eyes one evening. It almost took my breath away when I understood.

I knelt down beside her pallet and looked her in the eyes.  "Elysiana, do you want to be God's daughter. Do you want God to be your God? And do you want to love God and obey Him with your life?"  I wanted to cry it was so special to see her face light up.  It was eternity stirring in her heart.  She lept out of bed and danced around her room shouting, "Yes, yes...(more leaping)...oh, yes...(more twirling)...I do!!!"  It was incredible.  I had found the source to her unrest. God's had given me wisdom to understand what my daughter needed.  He knew.  I didn't.  I had even been a little annoyed by her constant repetitive questions.  But He knew all along.

It was her moment. Now Elysiana is very dramatic and the dancing and happiness continued for a bit. (Gets it from her GG, I am sure...) The other girls were near and we all listened intently as Elysiana prayed, "God, I want to be Your daughter.  I want you to be my God.  I want to love you and obey you for forever!" It was so simple. I stayed silent and just listened as the Holy Spirit orchestrated this prelude to a life that will be marked with such grace and strength. The world will never be the same. I'm serious.

Gabriella leaned over and asked, "Can I pray, too?"  I reminded her that she already prayed that a long time ago.  But she could not remember and was determined to experience it again!  She prayed, too.

I went to tuck the boys in bed and told them what had happened.  I knew David in particular would be thrilled.  He is very concerned about people. He is the one who led Gabriella and John-James in that same prayer years ago.  Well... John-James wanted to pray that prayer too and God's presence entered the room and then David had to be a part, too!  They took turns reaffirming that they wanted to live their lives for God and be obedient to Him.  They wanted to be His sons.

It was heaven in my home.  Something very special took place that evening.  Everyone is born with eternity in their heart.  There is a stirring, an unrest until you realize what it is.  God has a particular purpose for every individual that only they can fill.

Elysiana is very articulate but she could not express what she was feeling.  God was calling her near.  He will begin even at age four to prepare her for her destiny, a place where time stands still and she will stand before her Maker. I pray she will dance and twirl before Him, singing, "I am Your daughter, You are my God, I loved and obeyed You with my life!"
