We are taking a road trip! Not just any 'ol road trip - but a journey home! God has opened a door of opportunity to return back to the South. It is a bittersweet move. We have made a home here and many rich relationships, but the time has come to open the next chapter.
But before we close the Alaskan chapter of our lives, I want to take a week or so to wax eloquent on our stay in Alaska.
Right now, I am exhausted from boxes and babies so I will just get to the facts tonight. We are leaving probably early next week. Planning a two week road trip down the Alaskan Highway, thru Canada, Montana, North Dakota, etc. All this is weather permitting. We may head straight south and then east if inclement weather sets in. We will post to the blog our updates. No one will hear from us by phone/text while we are in Canada. But we will post to the blog whenever we find wi-fi.
Chris has upgraded Ol' Bertha to a 9-seater by putting a bench seat in the front. So now we can all fit in one vehicle. We have finally secured a U-haul trailer. For 3 weeks, there were no (that is zero!) trailers in all Alaska. Last night at midnight our miraculous trailer arrived! So now we have wheels and trailer. Next we have to finish the last minute details (medical records, rotating tires, one more dental appointment, compiling our emergency kit) and sell a few more items to help finance the trip.
I have already purchased the groceries for the trip. I felt like I was buying out Sam's!! We are making lodging reservations and strategizing with the granddaddy of all travel guides, The Milepost.
Kids are going crazy with no school routine and the thought of seeing everyone down South again. I am going crazy hearing them.
Okay, what other details? Ummmm...I am too tired to think. Will write more later. Love all of you. XOXO
Psalms 31 & 34
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him,
And rescues them.
As for me, I trust in You, O LORD,
I say, "You are my God. My times are in Your hand",
Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the LORD.
And rescues them.
As for me, I trust in You, O LORD,
I say, "You are my God. My times are in Your hand",
Be strong and let your heart take courage,
All you who hope in the LORD.
